Find your calling in the Compassion family

Let’s weave you into the next chapter of our story. For 30 years, Compassion Home Care has steadily grown to become Newfoundland & Labrador’s largest home-grown home care provider because our workers have continued to provide high quality, in-home care island-wide.

Whether it’s the start of your life in Canada, the beginning of a new career or a transition into the next professional chapter, let’s thread that path together.

We offer competitive pay, union benefits, flexible hours with work/life balance, and in-house training under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

Frequently Asked Questions

In order to start with Compassion as a home care worker, you’ll need to obtain the following:

– Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (Intermediate First Aid)
– Satisfactory code of conduct including a vulnerable sectors check
– Immunization record for MMR, TB. COVID vaccination is strongly encouraged.
– 3 references, 1 of which should be work related.
– Proof of Identity.

If you are a new Canadian, we require a work permit, study permit, or proof of citizenship.

If you are interested in a career with Compassion but lack some of the above requirements, or are in the process of obtaining them but have yet to do so, please reach out to us. We can chat through things and see if there’s anything we can do to help you.

Training certificates are crucial pieces of documentation for us. With photos, there is a decline in picture quality when they get sent back and forth. In order to ensure accurate documentation, we instead will accept a clear scanned image in a PDF format.  Further, the letter of conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check must be brought to the hiring office as we must check the validity of the document. This is a provincial requirement, directly from NL Health Services.

At Compassion Home Care, we hold ourselves to a high standard. We’ve been in business for over 30 years and have achieved the highest levels of accreditation in our industry. We know that takes effort – and it takes the right people. With courses and training by Registered Nurses, we offer a thorough education on helping you care for clients.

That being said, we are always striving to get better, especially as the demand for quality home care arises. Feel free to reach out to us.

No – we have a government approved, in-house training program designed and administered by Registered Nurses. So besides the requirements listed above, we can train you to become a member of the Compassion team.

That being said, prior home care experience or a completed certification or course is considered an asset during the application and vetting process.
